The General Education Council (GEC) serves as a standing advisory committee to the Provost office for VCU's general education program. The GEC is responsible for making expert recommendations on the undergraduate general education curriculum and assessment for the university. Voting members include faculty from all disciplines offering undergraduate general education courses at VCU, as well as designated staff from units directly involved in the council's work.
